Rodrigues

The island Rodrigues, a small island, located 600km east of Mauritius. With a size of 8 km wide and 18 km long and lagoon twices the size of the island, it is a unique place in the world to discover and is worth visiting. In the middle of the island there is Mont Limon at 389 meters high from where you can look around the island from north to south and east to west. There is also Point Pistache, where you can see how the earth opens towards the ocean, a beautiful place to see. Visit caves and turtoises near Plain Corail, spend days on the beaches st. Francois, Anse Ally, Cotton Bay and our most beautifull beach Trou D'argent. All is worth visiting and discovering here on Rodrigues.

Cultural Rodrigues has strong ties with Africa, as Creole is the spoken language and Creoles are the major part of the population. Most of the people are Roman Catholic. The languages spoken here are Creole, French and English. The food on Rodrigues consists mostly of fresh fish caught daily from lagoon by local fishermen, local fruits with their delicious tastes and even the livestock on the island provides us here with fresh chicken, pork and beef.
